The Wishing T-Shirt

Dandelions were the first plant I remember learning as a small child. My grandmother took me to the backyard and showed me how to harvest the early spring leaves which we later ate sauteed with potatoes for dinner (it’s an admittedly bitter taste that has thankfully grown on me as I age). Later that year I remember crying that the once golden heads on the “dandle-lions” had turned to pale downy fluff, but she showed me how to blow the seeds gently from the stem with the simple instruction to “make a wish.”

Is there anything stronger than how we dream as children? Whether it be the small hopes carried by the lolling of dandelion fluff on the wind. Or a late night wish upon a night sky bright with the silver of a full moon. This tee is a wistful and sweet one for me, a nod to those earliest days of becoming and longing and learning what it is to be a person in this world. The deep plum color evokes a certain mystery and imagination, not to mention it’s that rare purple that looks great on almost everyone.

It’s too easy to forget this way of a dreaming and wishing as we grow, to become reigned in by the realities of adulthood; the narrowing of our perception of what is possible. Here is an artful call to our less cynical sides, a soft and rich colored top for the child’s imagination within.
