Moon and Sea Goat T-Shirt

People don’t talk about sea goats enough! It’s all unicorns this and phoenixes that, and I just want to put in a good word for the good ol’ half-goat half-fish of ancient lore. A creature rich in history; it has been a constellation, a symbol in the zodiac, an offering to Leviathan, and a god of wilderness. As a natural illustrator born in late December, is it any wonder I’m a fan?

I’ve also pulled from a wide lexicon of alchemical and celestial themes, lasting symbols for people trying to figure out the story of the universe and their place in it. Like the sea goat these images had shifting and renewed meanings, and they lay the basis for an aesthetic language that artists have drawn on for millennia. It’s us. It’s history. It’s all here together on a high quality tee.

It makes me a little sad that sea goats have so often been relegated to the domain of Capricorn themed merchandise, so consider this my carefully illustrated bid for a sea goat resurgence!
