The moment I first saw an orchid mantis I knew I had to draw it (if you’ve never had the pleasure, get thee to YouTube and check out some videos, they are incredible to watch). It’s one of those creatures that almost doesn’t seem real it’s so bizarre and beautiful. A mimic hoping to get lost in the flowers, it’s a delicate and surreal delight.
If you haven’t noticed, we love a bit of visual wordplay! Here you’ll find the mantis paired with its namesake flowers in a striking interplay of pattern and detail. We’ve chosen a rich ochre colored pullover that’s as cozy as it is easy to style.
