There’s nothing quite like the roar of cicadas (something between the sound of a band saw and a wave) and it is a truly unforgettable. Even if they do leave behind a steady crunch beneath the foot as our winged friends complete their lengthy life cycles. 

Playing on themes of periodic emergence I’ve entwined my little swarm in kurinji flowers, which bloom once every 12 years on the blue hills of South India. Dark green seemed fitting for this comfy fleece pullover; the color of rich growth and damp forest and things crawling up with life from some deep place.
